Programs M.B.F. sponsors

The Monique Burr Foundation for Children, Inc. is committed to the protection and aid of neglected and abused children in Northeast Florida. MBF Inc. primarily funds new and existing programs for disadvantaged children.

Through the funds primarily raised in our Annual Monique Burr Foundation Golf Tournament and Holiday in the Hamptons dinner held in December we have funded programs that have impacted the lives of over 16,000 children each year in NE Florida. Specific programs funded by the Foundation include:

• Monique Burr Child Safety Net Program is a preventive program. It works with clients of the Children’s Home Society to monitor their home environment after release from treatment for abuse. There are in-home visits to allow early intervention and detection of deteriorating situations to prevent further abuse of the client or siblings in the home.
  
  
• Good Touch/Bad Touch Program has surpassed its goals year after year. The Foundation operates this signature program which is an innovative prevention program taught in private and public school systems and is approved by Duval County School system. The program provides children with a non-threatening way to talk about and hopefully avoid sexual abuse. We are now training volunteer facilitators to expand this program’s reach into NE Florida counties and throughout the state of Florida.
  
  
• Monique’s Kids is a prevention program for at risk children, providing unique enrichment, educational and fun experiences to over 120 children each day. They participate in reading and math tutoring programs, art, music and dance programs and are fortunate to meet, share and learn from a variety of community and business leaders. The Kids “give back” to their community through volunteer and service opportunities. There are currently three locations for these children to be involved in this program: Monique’s Kids – Sanctuary, Monique’s Kids – Triumph and our newest program at Monique’s Kids – Southwind Villas.
  
  
• The Foundation is looking to expand its Monique’s Kids curriculum to other areas in our city. We hope to establish Monique’s Kids sites in Westside and the Beaches area within the next two years.

Our mission is to give hope in the lives of children. We do this in a variety of direct and indirect services. Community support of the Foundation and its programs will assist us in eradicating abuse of our children.
